WORK RELATIONSHIPS
A common adage is that business is all about relationships. Teams, leadership, and customer service depend on cultivating connections. Further, work relationships strongly influence our personal job satisfaction and career development. Yet, the underlying mechanisms of how work relationships develop are still relatively unclear. Is it about common interests? Shared goals? Fit in values? Further, once a relationship begins, what actions help sustain its development over time? Our lab seeks to expand leader-member exchange research by incorporating findings from relationship science and actor-partner interdependence modeling to investigate the complex interplay of personality and interpersonal behavior over time.
