EMPOWERMENT
Our third focus is on factors which predict deep levels of interest, involvement, and enthusiasm at work. This research emphasizes workers' abilities to define and actively pursue solutions to the problems facing them, choose goals and tasks that create self-renewable work pursuits, and ultimately craft the conditions needed to make work a more fulfilling endeavor. This research integrates ideas from self-determination, empowerment, and work engagement theories to understand how task interest and feelings of control drive mental and emotional absorption in one’s work.
